Description Inspite of being essential to man's existence in many ways, phytoplankton, a group of microscopic plants, catch our attention only when they create havoc in the seas around us. The 'Red tide', one such bizarre and enigmatic event caused by these tiny organisms, has become a problem of global concern today.
