Description This proposal stems from the possibility of generating both fundamental insights as well as significant knowledge bases and products from the analysis of the continuous stream of GPS data expected to flow from the continuous stations established by C-MMACS (fig.1) as well as other organisation as a part of national network of fixed GPS stations being established by the DST, Government of India. The continuous GPS time series can thus be analysed for special epochs to yield a knowledge of the transfer functions of their responses, notably rheology of the crust, perceptible water vapour in the atmosphere and in particular models of deformation mechanism which remains an outstanding problem of continental collision zone processes. Specific regional GPS campaigns will be carried out based on the results obtained from the analysis of GPS data from the national network, to measure the regional strain accumulation.
