Description This project aims to establish four continuously running GPS stations in North-east India in collaboration with the local research organisation and universities. This forms a part of the DST project of establishing a national network of GPS stations throughout the country. The measurements at these sites give a clue to the rate of deformation in the Indo-Burman fold belt and its seismogenic potentials which is critical to evaluating seismic hazard in this region. It also helps to understand to tectonic relationship of the shillong plateau with the Himalayas. This has enormous implications to seismic hazard in the region.
