An equimolar reaction of diphenylketene with benzophenone <i>N</i>-diphenylacyl hydrazones <b>2a-c</b> affords 5,5-diaryl-4-(diphenylacyl)-2-(diphenylmethyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-enes <b>5a-c</b> which have been characterized on the basis of analytical and spectroscopic studies (IR, <sup>1</sup>H and <sup>13</sup>C NMR and MS). A plausible mechanism of their formation has been suggested. |
