Description |
Two damaged HPTR blades pertaining to an aeroengine were sent to the laboratory for investigation. Evidences suggest that the failure of the HPTR blades was due to loss of TBC. The loss of TBC appears to have caused by hot gas erosion due to exposure of the blades to high temperatures. The presence of solid particles (SiO2) in the hot stream of gas aggravated the situation further.
