A few comments are presented on IMD's model for forecasting mean seasonal rainfall for India in the context of its failure during 2002. From published data it is pointed out that seasonal (summer) rainfalls are normally (68.2%) be normal (LPA plus or minus 10%).The necessity to work out forecasts for various homogeneous regions of India is stressed
